The central figure is built from sharp polyhedral fragments, its half-lidded stare and finger held to the lips suspending a tension that never becomes speech. Muted fields of black, gray, and off-white are pierced by dull gold, remning as a single light in the crown, the circle at the right, and the ridges of the garment, while the scuffed wall surface and rough shadows, like traces of erasure, deepen the stillness after rupture. The geometric forms placed to either side and the broad surrounding emptiness isolate the figure, and the hard texture of the fragmented face and hands brings forth an emotion that, though wounded, begins to regn its form within silence.
